A long weekend is ahead of us and here are some AR-related links that will keep you entertained.

The Sience Fiction movie “Ready Player One” (here is the trailer) is in cinemas right now and showing a world where most people are immersed in the virtual world “Oasis”. Somewhat dystopian and somewhat exciting it creates a vision of the future of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality Technologies. Will we get close to something we see in this movie? An evaluation:

The Lunar and PlanetARy app lets you explore planets, moons and other solar system objects right in the palm of your hand. By pointing your smartphone camera at one of six downloadable graphics, you’ll see 3D global maps of the moon, Mars, Pluto, Jupiter’s moon Europa, Saturn and seven of its moons. The app was created by the Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) and is showcased here at the 49th Lunar and Planetary Science Conference. Find it in the App Store here.
